So initially, when American Apparel first came out with leggings in shiny lamé sheens, my first thought was…”tacky atlantic city call girl meets random chick who’s stuck in the 80’s and refuses to leave.” The only time where I thought I’d ever be compelled to purchase them was possibly for a Halloween party or just hangin’ around with friends (camera on-hand) in NON-public chill spots for silly, good times…but those thoughts have OFFICIALLY changed.
I am so in love with lamé! As I attempted to analyze what the whole fuss with these leggings were about, I pondered to myself…”hmm, am i sensing a rockstar-chic vibe?” And my senses immediately answered, “Oh hell yeah!” When pulled off the right away, I think these stand as a definite must-buy piece. Since this style of leggings pretty much make a fierce statement all by themselves, it’s best to downplay everything else you’re wearing. For me, I’d pull these off with a simple loose-fitted white tee or tank, a big slouchy neutral-colored cardigan, and black platform pumps, ballet flats, or gladiator sandals. Overall, they do serve as an inexpensive, comfy alternative to actual leather pants, especially if you want to avoid what could be a potential sweaty mess. It just might give your legs more breathing room. I’ll most likely hit up my local American Apparel tomorrow and snatch ‘em up. Currently, I’m eyeing this style in the more versatile, high-waisted version. It’ll look cute worn over a shirt for day, and oh so hot tucked in with a fitted tank at night. The somewhat hefty $44.00 price tag may come as a slight turn-off for something as simple as leggings (keep in mind though that these kind simply ROCK), but I do think it’s a nice little investment for your wardrobe.
MK pulls them off quite well (Ashley too, top right)…very cool and understated:

[...] recently wrote up a review on American Apparel’s lame leggings. Sadly, I still have yet to head on over there and try them on for size…never got the chance [...]
